Korine doet opnieuw iets vreemds of aparts maar voor mij is dit de eerste keer dat het niet werkt. We krijgen een soort van Twitch stream te zien met een videogame interface er tussenin gesmeten waarbij wat mensen met baby avatars in rijke mansions een "invasie" uitvoeren, en dat terwijl we over de gehele film Burial te horen krijgen, maar eigenlijk gebeurt er niet zo heel veel. Ik vind op dat vlak - en ik ben een geregeld twitch kijker - de gemiddelde twitch stream die zich afspeelt IRL eigenlijk interessanter om te volgen dan dit, en dat is geen goed teken. Soundtrack van deze film slapt wel, maar ik ben hier geen album aan het raten maar een film. En als film vind ik het gewoon niet goed.

Ik heb geen enkel probleem met style above substance of met Tarantino-esque explosies aan brutaal geweld, maar op één voorwaarde. En dat is dat het er mooi en gelikt moet uit zien, en dat is hier gewoon niet het geval.

Aparte film die het bekijken wel waard is omwille van het origineel concept, maar eigenlijk alle wetten van de logica tart. Dat ligt mij niet echt, al vlotte de film wel nog vooruit. Als een survivalfilm - wat het waarschijnlijk absoluut niet is - was het een beetje een saaie bedoening. En als het als metafoor of humor moest dienen, dan is me dat ontgaan of kon ik er bitter weinig mee. Ik vond dit niet zijn klassieke status waard.

Introspectief filmpje van Bergman dat enigszins wel vrij toegankelijk is omdat het vrij veel duiding geeft in wat de film tracht te doen, maar anderzijds ook weer niet zo toegankelijk is omdat de thema's die het aansnijdt wel zeer introspectief zijn en misschien ook niet echt zo universeel zijn. Het is wel een film over na te denken waar Bergman wel bekend voor zal staan neem ik aan.
