Nice new film from Ozon. The film reminded me all the time of Pauline à la Plage (1983) and inevitably of Call Me by Your Name (2017) given the budding friendship and relationship of both main characters. The structure of the film is strong and fascinating anyway. I was kind of wrong-footed the whole time with what actually happened between David and Alex. The whole time I had a murder in mind because that was underlyingly suggested. Ozone therefore creates a kind of tension and keeps the story fascinating for the viewer.

The proverbial nickel did not fall until the death of David himself. But then the film remained entertaining, partly because of the feelings of both gentlemen for each other, although it never gets as intense as Call me by your name. The fact is also that being homosexual is not Ozon's goal in itself. Flirting, seduction, obsession and freedom are more central to this summer love.

I found the strongest scenes on the dance floor (although I found Rod Stewart's song less successful), in which Alex in particular is completely absorbed in the person of David. I found the ending a bit disappointing in the sense that I didn't understand that apparently the true story (and their relationship) was not made public. For the rest very much enjoyed the film with beautiful holiday images and decent acting performances. Thick 3.5 * already!

Reasonable film about two boys who meet during the summer holidays and fall for each other. Although not much is done with the time in which the film is set, the whole still has a nice atmosphere. Since you get to hear how it ends at the beginning of the film, you wonder all the time how it could have come to this. In that capacity, the ending is a bit disappointing. Well cast further. A narrow 3.0 stars.

Gripping, romantic but also sad story, filmed in a fine environment and appropriate atmosphere. I thought the cast was strong. They played realistically, drawn from life. The music was good too. The common thread was 'I am Sailing'; not only apply to the music. Successful movie.
