Although Glover is not Arnie, he remains a good actor. It appeals to me less than in the jungle of the first Predator, but I still give this film a tight pass. It is also a mystery to me what some "actors" came to do in this movie, at times some scenes are very disturbing, and then only about the acting.

I loved the original as a kid. It was admittedly an 80s action movie with over the top action, but Predator was just a bit better put together than the average Schwarzenegger flick. The atmospheric jungle, the terrifying antagonist and high production value made it a true spectacle.

However, this sequel is nothing more than a weak, campy B-movie, with a setting where the Predator does not belong at all. The intro scene alone is laughably unrealistic, in which cops are engaged in a firefight with caricatural drug gangs. Not only do many officers look like they are on vacation (sunglasses and caps), they also behave unprofessionally and say the most moronic things. The low point is Danny Glover, a cop who enters the fray like a reckless mongol, ignoring all protocols and endangering himself and others, attacking an armed mob with only a shotgun. rrright.

It sets the tone for a film in which absolutely nothing is right. The characters are all irritating (Bill Paxton for example), the plot doesn't work at all and the denouement is too ridiculous for words. If I didn't know better, I'd think I was watching a failed parody.

After watching Prey, I started working on the rest again. Predator 1 is a perfect movie in my opinion. From the atmosphere, soundtrack, actors, direction, the incredibly well portrayed monster, everything is right about this film. It's really a shame that we didn't manage to get Schwarzenegger in part 2, but maybe for the better, it becomes very unbelievable, just like with the Die Hard franchise, that he ends up in these kinds of situations every time.

The only way to make it believable is if he were in the Gary Busy role or if Predators come back to hunt him out of curiosity how he could have beaten one of them.

The only role I like from Glover is Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon franchise. That fits him perfectly. I would have liked to see someone else here. Would have been funny if they had taken Bruce Willis or Sylvester Stallone for example. Glover, like many other cast members, is very hyper. The acting is sometimes not very good and the characters feel very dated.

Nevertheless, I have always found this a very entertaining film and partly because of the original setting, the speed, the music, the ending and again the impressive monster, this is still a very acceptable sequel.

But what I really appreciate the most about this film and what I think is totally missing in the other films is that certain atmosphere they create. The way of filming, that sultry atmosphere, sweating people, close ups, moving camera.... for me therefore the best after part 1.

The idea of Predators was also very nice, execution just a little less, actors mwah. Prey just like that, nice concept but it's all too clean or digital, whatever you want to call it. I miss that rawness, that real oppressive atmosphere. The idea of likes to hunt in very warm places went pretty overboard in those films as well.

I prefer to erase The Predator from my mind.
