Phony plot

Teenager Sonny Cook wakes up in the hospital after a serious car accident. He becomes bizarrely convinced that his mother, Ellen, has been replaced by a sophisticated imposter. What begins as a bizarre suspicion quickly grows into an obsessive mission. While the rest of the quiet, idyllic town notices nothing and simply sees Ellen as the caring woman she has always been, Sonny begins gathering evidence to unmask the 'fake' Ellen.
