"There are angels on the streets of Berlin."
Damiel is an angel who hovers over Berlin with other angels to help the lonely and sad inhabitants. After having lived as an angel for centuries, he actually wants to live as a normal human being of flesh and blood, to see what he is missing and to also taste the pleasures of man. Then he meets a circus acrobat, and now he is sure that he would rather be among the living.

I think it's a special movie. Deep, poetic and original. I don't think it's a film that easily looks away, and it doesn't have to be, but I did find it difficult to stay focused with this film. Also because it contains a lot of text that is not simple in nature. Not a movie to quickly watch in between. Furthermore, very atmospheric and the combination of black/white and color, I think is nicely done. Convincing game. A 7. 3.5*

You can trust director Wim Wenders with pretentious poetic posturing. Most of his movies are full of it. So is this one. Visually it all looks beautiful; the black and white images of Berlin are often breathtakingly beautiful, but the content... I couldn't do much with them anyway.
