Great Bond film, very refreshing after the Connery series (and those of Lazenby). This is a completely different movie, less serious, much more humorous and yet exciting, good music, great action and chases. And I also notice that Moore is a very versatile actor in this role. Less raw than Connery. Despite this seems like a dark movie, I really enjoyed it. Only that Voodoo thing doesn't quite suit Bond. By the way, I didn't miss the gadget content anywhere in this film, it's almost not there.

Oh dear! I was a bit apprehensive about this one, starting with Roger Moore after Connery and Lazenby. A series of films that I remembered as not particularly strong with an emphasis on The Man With The Golden Gun and Octopussy, films that regularly had a faint comic note and therefore a very different from the stylish Sean Connery films.

One difference must therefore be immediately noted, that the approach of this Bond is quite different from the previous ones, and the 'do or die' approach has made way for an approach where the situations seem to mainly happen to Bond, with emphasis when he again chasing the women. The woman-hunt is also something that seems to have gained momentum under Moore, borders on the ridiculous and seems more like a recurring gimmick that he gets everything right away, than something technical or something that adds.

Nevertheless, the first Bond with Moore is quite enjoyable and that is mainly due to the pleasant and different atmosphere that the whole voodoo situation carries with it. Furthermore, the film is full of action with pleasant moments crocodile island, the boat chase, the bus chase, the whole situation in Harlem and the training plane that makes you fall from one thing to another. The well-known hit by McCartney is doing well and Jane Seymour also stands out as a particularly beautiful lady. Not to mention Kotto as a great bad guy with nice henchmen like Tee Hee and Whisper.

After Live And Let Die, the first fear of the lesser series has been dispelled for a while and this film can rightly be called one of Roger Moore's best. Nice, really nice.

One of the weaker parts of the entire series, in my opinion. With funnily enough, one of the nicer theme songs, which also often returns in the film itself. Roger Moore is also the least James Bond to me, and that image doesn't really change here. He's not bad though, and it probably also has to do with the 70s course of the Bond series in general (a forced pun every half minute for example), but he just lacks a certain coolness[ /i] that predecessors and successors did have. And my god, what was going on with that sheriff even? Incredibly annoying, almost painful. There are still some mistakes in this film, and it lacks cool side characters or Bond girls. mr. Big is in itself a nice bad guy fortunately, and oh well, it is and remains entertaining to watch of course.

But I'm afraid I'll never really become a fan of this Bond era (although there were some nicer movies later in Moore's [i]run). 2.5*.
