Best 007 movie in my opinion. Only Casino Royale with Daniel Craig comes close.
Lazenby is certainly not the best Bond, but the character does come across more than how he was played by Sean Connery.

This movie also has the best Bond girl: Tracy. Finally a Bond girl who doesn't scream defenseless but joins the fight and really stands her ground. A perfect match for Bond and it's also nice that he never actually gets over her death in the subsequent films. She is also the only Bond girl to be mentioned in other movies as well. Blofeld is also well played, better than in the other films. Also the supporting roles such as Moneypenny get a little more to do than usual.

“There's no hurry, you see. We have all the time in the world.”

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is an excellent Bond film and a personal favorite. The film was slammed in 1969 and the years after (because no Sean Connery), but fortunately there has been more and more appreciation in the last few years. OHMSS has everything a good bond film should have. A great bad guy in Telly Savalas as Blofeld, the perfect Bond girl (Diana Rigg stands alone for me), Switzerland, lots of snow, ski chases, beautiful locations, rousing action scenes and John Barry's best work from his Bond career.

George Lazenby plays a tougher and more powerful Bond, and he comes into his own in the action/fight scenes. But he doesn't do badly in the humor/romantic scenes either. Diana Rigg is an excellent actress, and as Tracy she shows a combination of fierceness, humor and cleverness. Telly Savalas is also excellent as Blofeld. On Her Majesty's Secret Service has some good action scenes that look great for the time. The avalanche, the ski chase, the last fight around Blofeld's shelter, the bobsled chase. And all with the beautiful Swiss landscape in the background. The ending is dark and sad for Bond, and 'We Have All the Time in the World' by Louis Armstrong is another slap in the face.

Bit strange but we like it.

The first thing I made up my mind when watching this movie is to disconnect from the fact that I prefer certain actors in the Bond role.

This is an underrated bond movie that's pretty fun. Lazenby is not doing badly. There is a lot of experimentation with things that you don't see coming back in later films. Crazy movie style with some fights, rather unusual opening scene, more focus on romance and dramatic background music during conversations. In many ways, this is the maverick of the whole series. A more theatrical film. That certainly doesn't make him bad. But still too different for me.

I think there's a reason why this style isn't coming back. For some reason this movie feels “older” than, say, You only live twice.

The emphasis is also a bit too much on the new face of bond and the occasional fall back on the older bond films.

Definitely a movie you should watch as a bond fan. However, try to view it without prejudice.

Nicely played by Terry Savalas too.

Because of the sweetness this is one of the few unisex suitable bond films .

This one has earned 3 stars in my opinion.
