Santa Fe Scouts plot

Tucson Smith, Stony Brooke and Lullaby Joslin, aka The Three Mesquiteers, help young rancher Tim Clay, who is falsely accused of murder by criminals. These criminals want to take possession of the 'Clay Ranch'. While Tim is in prison, the criminals take possession of the Clay Ranch and make the neighboring ranchers pay dearly for the water that runs through the Clay Ranch's territory. The Three Mesquiteers try to gather evidence to expose the criminals and their principal.
