"Gun smoking fury breaks loose when RED RYDER meets the "Rustlers of Devil's Canyon""

Towards the end of the Spanish-American War, Red Ryder returns to Sioux City, Wyoming. Red settles with his friends Little Beaver and Blizzard on the ranch of his aunt 'The Duchess'. The trio soon learn that the region is infested with cattle thieves, but they don't yet know that the local doctor Cole is behind the cattle thefts. Cole finds that his hideout in Lava Basin is threatened by the arrival of new settlers Tad and Bess Glazier, who want to settle there. Naive Ted and Bess tell the sheriff that cattle thieves are hiding in Lava Basin. Cole tries to convince the sheriff that Red is the leader of the cattle thieves.
