"RANGE WAR...spread by cunning outlaws who use it to cloak plans for the most spectacular robbery in western history!"

Blue Springs, circa 1890. Red Ryder and his aunt 'The Duchess' run a stagecoach line. Recently released, Con Hollister plans to return $150,000 in stolen money from a stagecoach robbery about five years ago. Jed Quinlan, leader of a band of outlaws, convinces Billy, Hollister's young son, to join him in the robbery of the stagecoach containing his father. Red manages to repel the robbery, but Con has seen that his son Bill was among the robbers. 'Boots' Hollister, Con's youngest daughter, is killed by Quinlan when she does not reveal where her father hid the loot. Quinlan manages to get Red to be blamed for Boots' murder.
