I'm leaning towards a 2* but give it the benefit of doubt at the moment and a second look will give more clarity; knowing how the fork is in the stem. But definitely the least of the three, all felt very rushed, as if they heard Kills's critique and decided at the last minute to throw the existing script (which would probably be a traditional slasher) out the window. throwing and going in a totally different direction just to be "unpredictable". Mission accomplished, but possibly at the cost of a satisfying finale.

Fairly last part of the trilogy, with unfortunately few playing minutes for Michael. That is actually a big loss, especially for the fans. Apart from this flaw, the film is also successful as a kind of introduction film of a new villain. From the start you feel a subcutaneous tension and Corey's development is well built and displayed, with a strong role by Campbell. As mentioned, the role of Myers is unfortunately secondary and does not really matter. It also takes a while before the first real victims fall. A disappointment as a Halloween slasher, but if we park it, you're left with a pretty exciting and entertaining film. 3.0

As the closing of a new Halloween trilogy, you expect a great ending, but unfortunately this film failed to impress. It started off nice because I thought: Wow, they're trying in a new direction and introduce a side-character/accomplice of Michael Myers/the Shape. I didn't see this coming and it brought a nice twist to the story. But in the end it turned into a teen movie about a boy named Corey and his f*cked up life which I didn't care about at all. There was too much focus on the boring Corey in my opinion.

Also, little was said about Laurie's daughter who was murdered at the end of the previous part, which I thought was a shame.

Where Michael Myers in Halloween (2018) came across as an unbeatable beast, here he came across as a weakling who is easily overpowered by a wimp like Corey and at the end also by Laura.[/ spoiler] He didn't seem intimidating at all this time. He deserved a much better ending. But no, these days "girl power" is more important in Hollywood (which also ruined Terminator: Dark Fate) and that meant that the scary, unbeatable and dangerous Michael from the previous installments just wasn't there.

I'm surprised that the filmmakers managed to ruin this part so badly after such a strong start with Halloween (2018), but from Halloween Kills (2021) it already became fewer...

If you haven't seen this movie yet, don't worry. You really didn't miss anything.
