Typical formula work, in which apparently an attempt has been made to process as many horror clichés as possible, and where absolutely no millimeter is deviated from the beaten track. After the backlash against particle III, the opinion seemed clear; the audience wanted Michael Myers, preferably in a conventional story and in the well-known setting of Haddonfield. And that's what the audience got. Fortunately, this fourth installment in the Halloween series is, apart from that incredibly predictable cliché, very entertaining. The movie flies by, and there are quite a few cool sequences in it. The last twenty minutes of flying from one action/tension moment to the next, and the very last scene I really liked! Also about the only moment in the film that didn't feel uninspired, but rather refreshing. The images are beautiful and the atmosphere is okay (although this is not even remotely comparable with Carpenter's brilliant first part of course), and especially the musical notes of Carpenter remain rock solid and enhance the atmosphere. Myers himself is and remains a cool villain, more fun than a Jason or Freddie I think, so that the viewers wanted him back is not entirely incomprehensible.

In preparation for the new Halloween movie at the end of this year, I'm going to throw in the following parts as well, although I understand that the recent remake(s) don't follow the continuity of these sequels (part 2-6)? Oh well, not even a bad choice, because this whole family thing is really bad. But if they can keep tapping this entertaining level, great. Small 3*.

Part 4 is a bit hit and miss. Myers seems a bit silly in the movie. Did they really not realize that he looks really stupid with the new mask? The whole plot around Jamie is cheap and does little to nothing for me. Although there is a cult following for this, but it looks a bit cheap how it is introduced in this film. Loomis is also blaring again as usual. Sometimes a bit too much, but luckily the film is saved at the moments when Myers sneaks through the misty alleys of Haddonfield at night and is looking for stupid beef cattle. No fuss or clownish stuff, just a quiet, terrifying guest with only 1 goal. Kill people! Fortunately, the film succeeds in this.

Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) are back, one to kill Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) daughter and the other to stop evil. The daughter Jamie Lloyd is played by Danielle Harris and Jamie Lee Curtis is simply not present in this film because she is apparently dead. Very bizarre if you know that she will return in the sequels. But in this movie there are still a lot of weird ideas like the return of Myers and Dr. Loomis that got completely burned out in part 2. The fact of Myers wanting to kill a child is also daring, but also bizarre. And what about the shocking twist at the end! The atmosphere is good again, Myers can be seen in shadowy streets or corners again during Halloween and there are also a lot of kills in the film.

6/10
