Agatha Christie's Poirot plot

When the Germans invaded Belgium in 1914, the civilian population was hit hard. Many Belgian citizens flee to the neutral Netherlands or to England. One of them is Hercule Poirot, a former police officer. Poirot is lovingly cared for at Styles St. Mary in England and develops an affection for his new homeland. After the war, he settles as a private detective in London, in a flat in Whitehaven Mansions. He teams up with former British Army officer Captain Arthur Hastings and his secretary Miss Lemon.

"The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" is a very difficult story to adapt for film because of its surprising ending. The creators of this episode cut corners and made it a flat whodunit. Fans of the book might be a little disappointed.

All in all a '4' for this strong season...
