Average.

In these kinds of movies, the person who says you can't trust anyone is often the person you shouldn't trust. And so it happened. The Recruit tries a little too hard to seem mysterious and twisty, which makes it a bit of a struggle. Especially since you can see the end coming from early on.

Pacino plays his classic part (including speech at the end), Farrell is a bit light and Moynahan looks like one of those dead 90's actress. But it's still fun in itself. The desolate environment adds something, the introduction is interesting enough and the cat and mouse game, while not that great, is entertaining.

A film that only manages to add little to 100 similar films, but it still manages to do just fine. It strikes me that this kind of average work often easily scores above 3*, I can't say that about this one alone.

2.5*

What a few good actors can do for a film. Especially Pacino. What kind of characters can that guy put down. Also in this movie. His final speech in particular was exceptional. In itself, this is a pretty quiet film. Thriler/action doesn't really come into its own. If you do not include the piece of CIA training, there is little left, because the part that matters, the happening around the mole, does not amount to much in terms of duration and intensity. Partly because of the predictability of the outcome. Despite that, I think it's an above average film.

Good spy thriller!

Good acting from Colin Farrell and an almost self-evidently great Al Pacino!

This man can play so well and believable, a real pleasure to watch! His facial expression alone is worth gold.

Constant tension in a film where really only 3 people are in the foreground, where everything revolves around the CIA training and unmasking the mole.

A lot of change of situations, where you as a viewer remain very fascinated by the course. Finally, a rather unexpected twist with a great ending.
