Phenomenal! Now my third Hitchcock and it is definitely going in the right direction. Unfortunately it can now almost only disappoint because Psycho is a true masterpiece.

There is a constant tension, except maybe for a few moments. The music fits wonderfully. As simplistic the story maybe, so genius is the ending. I actually didn't know the story of Bates yet and I think I'm very happy about that.

This really was a movie I had no expectations at all. Psycho is also in black and white which I am not too used to and then you get a very good film. So simple and oh so sublime. Do I have a new top 10 movie? It doesn't matter much.

Legendary noir film by Hitchcock that I saw for the first time this year. I think it's his best work and I've seen quite a bit already. The restored Blue-ray version I saw is beautiful and has a lot of extra material on it (even a nice episode of AH presents).

The film actually consists of two parts with different genres: thriller and horror with the latter still excelling in its genre. The script is simple but very strong and the actors fill it in very well with an eye for detail (note subtle facial expressions). The music has become really classical and fits well with the tension and suspense moments.

My favorite scene is the beautifully shot car ride where the possible conversations of the characters looking for her run through her mind, so realistic that at first I thought it was really playing while she was in that car. There is also a good (funny) reversal in who decorated whom.

The scene in the shower made such an impression on me (that's a bit dated) that it gave me a terrible nightmare at night. That scene is also very original shot.

The camera work and the images are also really beautiful throughout the film. What a great "haunted house" too! The story also has a mostly original ending.

For the enthusiasts, there is the film "Hitchcock" which is about Hitchcock's struggles during the making of this film.

Anthony Perkins is truly stunning in this Hitchcock film that everyone will want to see and which stands out for its sublime build-up of suspense, its fine camera work, its cinematic value and a scene which, also for its music, is one of the most famous.

Not to mention Janet Leigh's neat supporting role.

Anyone who has not noticed Hitchcock himself at the beginning of the film has at least felt the master.
