Cruise is a good actor... But in his personal MI franchise I find him rather ridiculous. This first one went somewhat, the next one I found dramatically moderate to bad. Heap of fuss, stunts, fake drama and above all interesting doing. Shards a light bulb across the floor to prevent intruders. please. And then Jim's ultra-thin motivational sauce for his ..... (spoiler). Well no, the whole MI series is not my cuppa tea.

Very enjoyable. I happened to see Fallout in theaters a few years ago, but otherwise I've never even sat down properly for the Mission: Impossible series. I'm going to change this from now on, because I liked this first part. An excellent balance between small-scale spy work and action scenes, although the real action is almost exclusively situated in the explosive ending. In fact, the over the top climax is even the least part of the film, although I didn't have too much trouble with it anyway. The two best sequences are the long part at the beginning where Cruise's team is systematically killed, and the heist at CIA headquarters. Both scenes are nice and long, exciting, well constructed and fantastically filmed with the constantly changing perspectives of all the people involved. Is De Palma a fantastic blockbuster director? Maybe not, as becomes a little clear in the last act. But the aforementioned sequences, and a lot of other scenes, do show his absolute camera craftsmanship. If every part of the series has even a few such scenes, it's going to be very entertaining and enjoyable.

Well, it's definitely not a perfect movie. Certainly the cast is a bit so-so. I find Cruise a bit irritating at times; he cannot really be called charismatic here. Jon Voight only needs to appear once and you already know he's going to be the bad guy. And Emmanuelle Béart also only has a very meaningless role. An aspect that will be put together better in the sequel, I presume. The story itself is ultimately not too interesting, but that's not really what the film is about, so I can't call that a major weakness. Overall, it's a nice 3.5*.

mission impossible was just a top series here they try to imitate the films but just like every film adaptation from series to film they also take a walk here first betrayed and raped the tv series because in the tv series they were ahead of the game piece of professionals sometimes things like the movie could almost go wrong, but they make up for that. very unbelievable that the team is betrayed by another team member and that the boss is a traitor no it is just not worthy of the name of the series. many stunts and action, but you had that in the TV series, but otherwise no, as a loyal fan of my TV series, I fond him badly, not even half of the TV series.

it's just a series of action movies that has the name of the top series nothing more. 2.5 that's it for me because no film adaptation has managed to give back the quality you had in the TV series. either they give it a twist like here or the actors don't have what the actors had in the tv series. just a series of action movies but certainly not mission impossible.
