Still slightly less fresh than the strong first part. Another very good Kitano film

I do not know what it is. But I was missing something here. Outrage: Beyond has a somewhat slow build-up, just like the first part. But once all hell breaks loose, you can enjoy Kitano's vision of the Yakuza again. Yet Beyond has less memorable moments, especially in the murders. Furthermore, the plot is quite complicated and the many characters really require close attention. Yet it remains entertaining and interesting. Kitano seems to want to make this a bit of his Godfather trilogy as this feels like a middle piece in everything. The ending is quite abrupt, but very fitting. I also missed a little bit more of that typical Kitano humor.

The acting here is of a very high standard. Everyone does his/her best to portray the characters as best as possible. Furthermore, Kitano does what he does best. Show everything in a stylish way. And that worked out well. Even in a slightly inferior Kitano there is a lot of quality to be found. I think that third part can come.

Excellent film about the inner workings of the Japanese criminal organization, the Yakuza.

Autoreiji: Biyondo is the second part of a trilogy, all directed by Takeshi Kitano who also plays one of the leading roles. And despite the fact that I have not seen Autoreiji, the first part from 2010, I was quickly hooked. story, which is about the power struggle between the various gangs in Tokyo, their connections and attempts to expand their authority with, in some cases, the resulting revenge attacks, a struggle in which the Japanese police also play a role that is not always fresh. .

What particularly impressed me was the calculation and well-thought-out actions of the various gangs and their members. The story therefore develops as a kind of chess game in which extreme violence is absolutely not avoided. All this in a cold atmosphere with accompanying beautiful images and a soundtrack that really adds something.

The strongest thing about Autoreiji: Biyondo was the impressive cast, led by Takeshi Kitano as a barely understandable criminal, which means that his role in the story is constantly shrouded in mist. Toshiyuki Nishida and Sansei Shiomi in the roles of prominent Yakuza veterans were both fantastic, as was Fumiyo. Kohinata as the sneaky police detective was very strong in his role. But that actually applied to almost the entire cast.

Excellent and extremely fascinating film that seemed very realistic to me.

Let's see how it turns out.

A good sequel. I found it a little easier to follow and clearer than its predecessor, on the other hand, this second film is a little milder with scenes of violence and the alliance between Otomo and Kimura is one of the surprises of the film. Once again a lot of intrigue with shaky alliances between different yakuza factions, mainly with the intention of killing each other better afterwards. Once again merciless shootouts when certain yakuza fall into disgrace or are the object of vendettas. And Kataoka, the corrupt cop, is also far from innocent in the events. For those who enjoyed the first film, this one will not disappoint either. Hasn't bored me for a moment. Kitano does it again. Coda is on the program next Friday, the conclusion of Kitano's yakuza trilogy.
