I thought it was better than the first two parts. Jason wears a mask for the first time in this film. The pattern of the film remains the same. Some introduction, although less so than the previous part. The characters also stood out to me less than Shelly with his filthy pranks. His death is therefore not immediately believed, which is somewhat comical. In this film a small subplot of a meddlesome biker gang is added. They don't last too long either, but the black guy who reincarnates does at the end. Now I think I'm going to take a break from this film series, since the variation isn't too is great and otherwise it gets boring. The chick of this movie is Dana Kimmell, who outsmarts everyone here with her survival skills.

The first two Friday the 13th films weren't masterpieces either (although I found part 2 remarkably above average), but this third part is clearly a lot weaker. The camp atmosphere is not present in this one, and I usually find that the most charming thing about the series. But in general I don't really have anything to complain about, because you just get what you expect; Jason butchering teenagers. I find that dingy, sometimes even cheap-looking image somehow attractive, and in this Voorhees finally gets the well-known hockey mask, which is iconic. The movie takes itself a little too seriously, and the kills are ridiculously gore-less, but overall it's an okay pulp movie that's fine to watch. Maybe I'll watch a few sequels again, but then I hope they take themselves a little less seriously and go full on the campy tour. 2.5*.

Jason is back. Still in 3D. And oh yes, he has an ice hockey mask. Not much more startling actually happens in this standard slasher with a high body count but with mediocre kills.
For the second time, the direction is in the hands of Steve Miner. The film connects seamlessly with the previous part and uses the first minutes to confront the viewer again with the finale of part 2. A nice finale, which at the same time shows the creative poverty of this third part. Part 3 is therefore not much more than a fairly uninspired clone of the second part.
The characters are of a pitiful caliber. Carefree teenagers who crave sex and drugs and are brutally put out of their misery by Jason. The kills are a bit unimaginative but they look good. The special effects are okay and the blood is pouring more profusely than in part 2.
Miner lets Jason roam quite wildly and uncontrollably. I like the thoughtful and mysterious killer that Jason is more. That hectic behavior robs him of much of his dark glow. Anyway. The setting is attractive. The beef cattle knows its place. The kills are okay. Friday the 13th Part III is not very special but does what it is supposed to do. He entertains.
