revised. This is by far the best (and most insane) part of the trilogy. What an abundance of crazy ideas and what creativity, amazing. The special effects, already on the edge at the time, have not withstood the test of time, but who cares. It all contributes to a still unique viewing experience.

When we thought demonic occupation was still scary and the gore in horror movies was still limited, this film destroyed all innocent souls who dared to look at it. For that reason alone it deserves 5 stars,

I break when Campbell uses the slapstick, and still crook my toes when flying eyeballs are accidentally swallowed. It's a descent into madness and chaos before the movie actually starts, and once the plotline is walked the threat in the movie doesn't diminish.

The makeup and special effects are outdated and therefore it is no longer such a hard test for your nerves, especially in the last half hour. This makes it clear how brilliant Raimi and Campbell actually are in this film when the film does not rely on special effects or makeup. Strong directing and fantastic acting.
