Telekinetic touch.

Although this is not the case, Terry Kiser almost looks like the father of Robert Downey Jr. in resemblance. What is even more striking about this umpteenth part of the exhausted series about serial killer Jason, is the telekinetic touch. However, the Carrie-esque twist is not used well and so the viewer is left with an average part which feels rather long-winded. At the very end when it turns out for the umpteenth time that Jason rises again and again. This time even more often.

Average.

Same level.

Friday the 13th part 7 actually follows the F13 formula of the other parts but combines this with some fantasy. This makes the film at times quite silly, but it also produces 1 of the nicer final girls since part 3. Lincoln is certainly not bad as Tina Shepard.

Lincoln is therefore 1 of the first good performances since part 3 between all fairly useless cast members. Not that she is also completely perfect, but at least the emotions come across a bit more sincere and she knows how to give a little more as a character to her final girl appearance. The look does it too.

Because otherwise the film follows the standard safe paths in terms of elaboration and still has tame kills that all pass fairly quickly. Jason chops at something that is out of the picture or someone is quickly thrown into something, they have actually only become less creative since the earlier parts and that should have been a warning sign for the writers a long time ago.

Still, Hodder is one of the nicer Jasons in the series and actually gives some threat to the character. It is of course still not perfect, but Jason at least looks a bit more dangerous and the actors from the earlier parts never actually managed that. Increasing the budget also seems to have had some advantages in terms of appearance.

Furthermore, the film works in a fairly unobtrusive way towards a spectacular finale that is silly, but at least something new within the series and that's what I was looking for for a long time. It's not all that creative, but at least it's proof that they did try to make something fun out of it back then.

The first hour is a bit of formula work, but in the end a very nice finale when Jason suddenly has to deal with an intended victim who has telekinetic powers. He also loses his hockey mask. The Jason motif remains of course the strongest part of the series.
