Moderate.

Night of the Demons is a film where the poster is better than the film itself. The remake might also be a limited film, but I'd rather see that film again than this one. It's also strange that there are so many complaints about the remake's slow buildup, because this film also takes a considerable amount of time before the horror kicks in.

This film is characterized by very mediocre acting, a relatively dull pacing, and an attempt at a high fun factor that never quite pans out. The more enjoyable, funnier parts are in the sequences that don't fall under horror. When it comes to horror, the film makes noise, but as a result, it never truly manages to be fun, which is a shame.

The pacing is relatively slow at first, which is compensated for by the second half's frantic, fast-paced pace. Miraculously, however, it doesn't, despite the many attempts. Lots of noise and bombast, but a smooth flow never really occurs, making the film feel rather tiresome. The kills are tame, and the effects lack fun. While they are practical, they're not truly fantastic.

The film also makes numerous attempts at comedy, but the film's best joke is on the DVD poster on bol.com. There, you see a demon holding a microphone, something the film itself never surpasses. And if that's supposed to be the best joke, you know the film hasn't achieved its best result.

Despite the limited horror, the film does have a decent finale and an entertaining first half. However, that half doesn't offer any horror; it's mainly the Halloween atmosphere that makes the film more enjoyable. That atmosphere fades in the second half, however, and a more cheesy feel takes over. That's a bit of a shame. I was really looking forward to it beforehand, but the final result unfortunately disappointed me.

Slow Demon Slasher!

The film starts off rather slowly, but this is compensated for by some interesting scenes. The acting is excellent, as is generally the case with 80s flicks. But it's a real shame that you have to wait almost an hour for the gory action...

Linnea Quigley is back, of course, and her acting is often a feast for the eyes! Cult legend!

When the violence finally arrives, it's unfortunately quite disappointing. A few fun, nasty kills, but that's about it...

The demons look fine but are of course complimented by the 80s camerawork.

Brilliant ending with those old people, by the way! Great...if only the whole movie were like that...

Skinny ☆2.0

After more than 25 years of reviewing the uncut 4K version from Scream Factory with Dolby Vision, it looks stunning.

The original title was "Halloween Night." It starts off a bit slow, but that finale, once it really gets going, has always stuck with me. Really freaky shit! The acting isn't great, but that's more than compensated for by the strong special makeup and creature effects, naked chicks, and awesome music. A mix of several dark (hard) rock songs, with the credits song "The Beast Inside" as my favorite.
