Garland is wat mij betreft een van de beste regisseurs van deze eeuw. Na het meesterlijke Civil War komt hij nu met een nóg intensere en hyperrealistischere oorlogsfilm. Het sound design en de actie zijn echt om van te smullen. Ik heb anderhalf uur met een knoop in mijn buik en een bonzend hart in mijn keel zitten toekijken. Dat dat is écht een knap staaltje filmmaken.

Wellicht dat er nog een verhoging volgt, maar het gekerm van de gewonde soldaten was bij vlagen echt naar. Niet omdat het slecht was, integendeel, het was zó goed gedaan dat je eigenlijk wilde dat het ophield.

Ga dit sowieso in de bioscoop zien, want thuis mag je het geluid vast niet zo hard zetten van de buren.
