Barely 90 minutes, but every minute counts. Something many other directors could learn from.

Ok, of course the plot lends itself to not wasting time on background etc, but still.

Good cinematography, sound was good (a bit like Civil War, felt very realistic).

Too bad Will Poulter suddenly appears. Phew, he can't act, no matter how hard he tries.

Nevertheless, a great cinema experience! Short, powerful and brutal. War, that's not good for anything, except movies!

Reconstruction of a military mission in Iraq in 2006 based entirely (and exclusively) on the memories of the Navy SEALs who were involved. Will Poulter is the leader of this unit who has taken an Iraqi family hostage in order to keep an eye on the actions of potential enemies from their home. A unit led by Ray [D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai] eventually joins in when the situation gets out of hand. Any semblance of heroism is deliberately avoided. You are made a participant in the terrifying silence in the knowledge that hell can break loose at any moment, but also in the fear, confusion and pain that the wounded must endure. Made with great attention to detail (under stress you often remember the strangest details) that give this a rarely equaled realism and provided with a sublime soundtrack that can only be done justice with an optimal sound system.

Warfare is a pretty intense film that shows the futility of waging war. The premise is simple: The Navy Seals find themselves in a tight spot and have to fight their way out of it. Nothing more, nothing less. Garland and Mendoza manage to replace this fact in an intense film that is impressive audiovisually. The bullets, the screams, the explosions. No score is needed to make the film sink in.

Everything hits hard, but at the same time I also come to the conclusion that this is such a good film that it is only good to watch once.
