Ófærð plot

Shortly after a ferry enters the harbor of the Icelandic village of Seydisfjördur, a mutilated corpse washes ashore. Police inspector Andri suspects that the perpetrator is on board and stubbornly tries to keep all passengers on board. When a heavy snow storm comes ashore that same day, the situation is no longer tenable. No one can enter or leave the village, not even the murderer. All the inhabitants suddenly become suspects, but they are also all in danger.

The structure and elaboration are very similar to those of the first season. A solid sequel with a strong start. Still, I enjoyed the first season a lot more. Perhaps precisely because of the repetition of moves now, but also because I was less glued to the tube.

It started to drag a bit after the halfway point and the side paths of neo-Nazis/immigration hatred, interracial homosexuality - both not very convincingly presented - and environmental pollution were against me. Too bad about such politically correct aspects. I also found the ending with Stefan in the abandoned ski resort disappointing. In the end it was good enough but I expected more.

PS when Andri talks to others, he often mentions their names in succession... Þórhildur.. Þórhildur.. Þórhildur..

Stefan.. Stefan.. Stefan..

Significantly less powerful than the first season, but still worth it. The story is rather cumbersome and slow to start, but once up and running it is all exciting and compelling again. This time around, there's also much more opportunity to go the extra mile visually, with consistently stunning images of Iceland's landscapes.

What a disappointment compared to season 1. Slow, way too much sentimental posturing and little tension. The cast is as good as ever, it's just a shame that the characters they have to put down are such a bunch of dummies. The plot is also a lot less than season 1. I hope season 3 is back to the level of season 1.
