A decent historical drama. The story of the young Washington is relatively unknown and therefore quite interesting. The execution is somewhat inconsistent but generally adequate. The film builds up well, is easy to watch, and contains some action and suspense alongside the drama. Despite this not being a blockbuster, the action scenes are quite strong and look reasonably spectacular. However, the film lacks some depth, and despite Franklin Miller's good performance, his character remains somewhat superficial. The ending is slightly too heroic in relation to the rest of the film. 3.0/3.5
