Ófærð plot

Shortly after a ferry enters the harbor of the Icelandic village of Seydisfjördur, a mutilated corpse washes ashore. Police inspector Andri suspects that the perpetrator is on board and stubbornly tries to keep all passengers on board. When a heavy snow storm comes ashore that same day, the situation is no longer tenable. No one can enter or leave the village, not even the murderer. All the inhabitants suddenly become suspects, but they are also all in danger.

Season 3 I found better than season 2. Especially the playing time made the whole less long-winded. The plot and cast were good again. It is not necessary to have seen the first two seasons although there are some elements in it, including for example the story behind Andri's father. I just wonder why the police have to be so clumsy again with, among other things, their solo actions. This also made the ending of this season 3 a lot worse unfortunately. But on average, this series was still worth watching.

The third season of Icelandic Trapped, renamed Entrapped by Netflix, builds on the familiar ingredients that made the first two seasons so successful. That means a crime mystery (this time with a ritual commune and a biker gang), the local Police led by Hinrika (Ilmur Kristjánsdóttir) and of course the massive Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Andri. A wonderful detective duo, but somehow they completely convince.

That can't quite be said of the story. The plot is not very surprising, fragmentary and it never really gets exciting. For example, the biker gang led by 'Danish' Hopper (Thomas Bo Larsen) is rather cliché. Entrapped is entertaining though. Maker Baltasar Kormákur (Katla, Everest) has made excellent use of the Netflix budget because the design is attractive. Last but not least, the desolate and otherworldly landscape is beautifully portrayed.

Weakest season to date, saved in part by the still likeable characters and the beautiful Icelandic locations. However, the plot is on the bland and stretched side, despite the fact that this season only consists of six episodes. If one wants to continue with this series, a better script will have to be conjured up. Since Netflix became the lender, the series is also known under the name Entrapped.
