Due to the presence of Steve Vai, this film had been on my list for a while, The Karate Kid but with guitar violence. Let's play the blues!
An entertaining whole with a fairly predictable story, but the interpretation is fun and creatively done.

The joy of playing is also clearly noticeable, especially with Joe Seneca who could do a lot with the character.
By the way, Jami Gertz is a feast for the eyes in this film, her story is a bit rushed, but I still thought she was a nice addition.
The best scene is of course the guitar battle against Steve Vai, but the musical ride to it was nice too! It's a pity sometimes about the thin story, but this film certainly does entertain.

3.5*

Beautiful (music) road trip film, with a good story about how an old blues harmonica player goes to the Mississippi Delta with Eugene Martone (Ralph Macchio) to go to the Crossroads. This is a legend that has been told many times, including how blues guitarist Robert Johnson did that trip. Check out the documentary about Robert Johnson, Devil At The Crossroads on Netflix, among others, that tells you how that went during his visit to the Crossroads. For the rest I can only say go see it if you like really good music.

Beautiful road movie that leads to the legendary crossroads where, according to legend, blues musician Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil, in order to excel in making blues music.

A young Juilliard student is fascinated by his music and all the mystery surrounding it. He always visits the old Blind Willie Brown, a contemporary of Johnson and harmonica player, who, according to tradition, would know where Johnson's thirtieth song has gone. Together with the old man he travels to the Mississippi Delta, home of the blues...

The soundtrack was played by none other than Ry Cooder and guitar vortuoso Steve Vai provides a dazzling show.

In addition to the music, the atmospheric images in the film are magnificent.
