The Slaughter Rule plot
"In life, every season counts."
Roy (Ryan Gosling) is kicked out of his high school soccer team a few days before his estranged father dies. For Roy, football is a way out of his empty provincial existence. Then Gideon (David Morse) crosses Roy's path. Gideon is a loner looking for gamers (poor boys) for his six-something football team. Roy joins the Renegades to play and he and Gideon form a close friendship. Meanwhile, Roy also finds friendship with Skyla (Clea Duvall).
