The best part of the film were the two eye open, other closed moments. I like to do it myself .

The film goes on nicely, without getting big anywhere, although the climax is the best part of the film. The monologues (and some of the conversations between Leland and Pearle) are the film's only real feats. Thanks to the music, an rtl4 housewife drama film feeling just wasn't there.

2.5*

Directed by Matthew Ryan and produced by Kevin Spacey, this drama film probably wanted to take a little too much on the road, making it a messy whole. The premise of the brutal murder committed by a teenager who sees no way out or use of an autistic boy is a good one. Unfortunately, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The teen's quasi-philosophical train of thought goes no further than the observation that sometimes things happen just because they happen. And he apparently sees sorrow in people, where the people themselves do not see it. To portray this, there are several secondary plots that have hardly been worked out seriously. Ryan Gosling's sad look and posturing chatter didn't appeal to me and it's a bit odd that at 23 he's supposed to be a teenager of 15 or 16.
