Normal.

I actually found this to be quite lacking in the end, except that I thought it was an ok biography/drama. I hadn't heard of this David Helfgott before, so that was all new. I haven't been much involved with pianists, so I didn't know this one.

The film is quite captivating, but that's about it. Childhood is the most interesting part, especially that father is an interesting character to look at the first part. After that it's less interesting.

I think Rush is a good actor, but I couldn't help but think it was all a bit too exaggerated. Very irritating all of which sometimes has to be funny? I didn't think that was real and very rarely did I get real emotion. Only the scene where the father was listening to his son on the radio was strong

Other than that I think this is just normal. Quite annoying at times, but in general it looks good and the life of this Helfgott is brought just enough. For the rest, this gets a pass, but not a high.

Impressive tour-de-force by Noah Taylor and Geoffrey Rush as the brilliant pianist whose mental health is broken by his tyrannical father, a traumatized survivor of the Holocaust. Although the film is inspired by the life of the pianist David Helfgott, the whole thing did not particularly appeal to me. From the moment that Helfgott chooses his own path, the story barely captivated me. Rachmaninov's music is not for me and that makes a difference of course. Armin Mueller-Stahl is very typecast.

Solid biography about a contemporary maestro at the piano keyboard. Very nice and handsome scenes when Geoffrey Rush gets into the hands of Helfgott. I can't describe it better than JoeCabot above. Top notch acting.

In addition, I also found the pieces with the hard father intriguing, in which the cool, distant, but also arbitrary relationship was central. But that was it for me too. For the rest, little fascinated watched the film that otherwise excelled in nothing.

Nice to see once, but no more than that.
