Brian Banks excels in American football at school and also has a prestigious university on the horizon. However, his life is turned upside down when he is accused of a crime he did not commit. Reasonable film about a teenage boy who ends up in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Based on a fine, true story that has a somewhat predictable course. The characters are also a bit on the predictable and boring side. It's not bad at all and it's also entertainingly told. Morgan Freeman's role is negligible.

The acting of Aldis Hodge is convincing enough and he knows how to communicate both the emotion and the frustration well. Unfortunately, director Tom Shadyac presents the story rather dryly and there is hardly any room left for the sports side. Brian Banks as a film knows little sensation and can therefore not hide the fact that there are a number of dead moments. As a result, the event is not always that interesting, but basically what needs to be done is certainly done.
