A pretty heavy apocalyptic movie...until The Divide came out.

These films are quite similar, but the final spectacle is a lot harder and nastier. Blindness is also reminiscent of nuclear chaos films like The Day After and Threads. This is really my genre and it shows exactly how I see humanity: wolves in disguise. It does take a while before Blindness gets going, because at first it looks like an average epidemic, but when the authority falls away, things go wrong. In one way or another I have much less trouble with the whitish image (I understand that it has to do with the blindness of many people). In any case, it will at least get exciting from that point on. Real atrocities aren't covered, but I didn't miss them either. In any case, it goes a long way for a Hollywood film. The end creates possibilities. Blindness could have lasted an hour longer, I realize afterwards. I'm curious about the director's vision after this event. Finally some good work from Fernando Meirelles.

A relief after the retarded The Constant Gardener, but far from overwhelming.

It is indeed a pity that more was not done with the concept, because the starting point in itself is extremely interesting. Unfortunately, after the promising opening phase of the film, it quickly gets bogged down in cliché. The whole thing with those power games is already so chewed up that you wonder why Meirelles is still coming up with it. It also doesn't help much that the actions of the characters are so unbelievable that it is quite irritating in the long run.

Fortunately, it is not all doom and gloom, visually convincing the film is. A rather clean style (lots of bright white), which fits in well with the theme of the film. In that area you notice that Meirelles has talent, it's just a shame that his films usually leave something to be desired. The soundtrack, which largely consisted of some idiotic drum tunes, didn't really appeal to me either. In a Cidade this may have an atmosphere-enhancing effect, here it is a bit strange and misplaced.

Not bad, but the film's captivating concept deserved better execution. 2.5*.

Meirelles does not exactly deliver a constant level.

I did appreciate The Constant Gardener. 360 was worthless messing around in my opinion. I can also have this very bad. But The Two Popes was nice again.

So this film, well, there is simply too little done with the idea. It doesn't really become clear what it is like for the only sighted, nor what it is like for the blind. How it feels, tastes, smells and sounds, so to speak - I thought that worked a lot better in something like Perfect Sense. And that the story is so believable? To be honest, I don't really believe in the fairly orderly, almost jovial and friendly detachment we see here - I quickly think of empty shelves of toilet paper. Or if we consider the role of government, something like How I Live Now.

Moore didn't really impress me, and Ruffalo is annoyed as usual. Always nice to see Danny Glover.
