"An adventure as big as life itself."

Will Bloom is thoroughly tired of the unbelievable stories about the adventures of his father Ed. However, when he discovers that his father is terminally ill and has little time to live, Will returns home. He is determined to get to know the real Ed Bloom. By examining all of his imaginative stories, Will tries to chart his father's life and separate the facts from the myths.

Another beautiful fairy tale by Tim Burton, and what kind? That's right, a made-up story...

Will Bloom is annoyed by the fact that his father Ed is constantly trying to fool everyone with his made-up life story, which is bursting with unbelievability. Ed was portrayed very well here by Albert Finey and now that he is dying, Will strives after all these years that his father finally tells the truth ... but in vain. Ed is still trying to take advantage of being able to tell his entire made-up life story to the first interested person... in this case a foster carer. And yes... as in reality, as a citizen you can be annoyed to death by people who continuously disguise their lives with fairy tales and lies to add that color that is missed all the time. But when we actually get into Ed's world, it's anything but annoying.

Tim Burton once again sketches a creative fairy tale where giants, conjoined twins, typical villagers and big fish, strange circuses, find their place in the so-called reality where Big Fish has become a true, colorful feel-good movie... How beautiful lies can be worked out. Some times you will laugh and other times you will shed a tear. Ewan McGregor also knows how to portray the young Ed Bloom in a nice way and of course there is also enough room for a love story. We can at least confirm that Burton has done his best again... That ending... yes, wonderful.

A film that has been in the pipeline for a long time and which I certainly do not regret seeing. This has just become a classic, imaginative history. Something you can trust Burton in.

And that circus performer: Wasn't that Ron Jeremy?

Very nice.

Yes, I already had high expectations, but I didn't feel like setting them up earlier. Had it on the recordings for 2 weeks now and then decided to start on it. Very quickly I was drawn into this typical Burton film.

The entire cast plays well, but it is not an unknown cast. We immediately see stars like DeVito and Buscemi, only Depp is actually missing in this Big Fish. Burton also lets his imagination loose in this film, and it shows. The visuals are beautiful and the sets and decorations are masterful.

A film that seems simple, turns out to be very good in the end. Definitely recommended, especially for Burton fans. Burton, however, has never surpassed this.

I always like movies where reality and fantasy are mixed without getting too much into fantasy. In that respect, Big Fish is doing just fine.

Very nice images and with a storyteller in the background, the film is nice to watch. Beautiful images, good story.

Although I watched the film with the thought that the relationship between father and son would be more exposed. That was not the case and for me it was a loss (or downer). Still, I enjoyed the story and the pictures.

3*
