A mediocre film about a teenage girl who gets the lead role in the school musical but then has to process bad news. A coming-of-age drama that, partly due to the subject matter, cannot avoid being somewhat sentimental. The mother-daughter moments do make for the best scenes. It is not bad, but I found it a bit too long-drawn-out for 3.0 stars.

The film starts off reasonably well and certainly evokes a certain likeability. However, after that, the film never really manages to surprise and drags considerably. As the film progresses, this thing becomes increasingly tedious. 2.5*.
