"Mostly All New Jokes."
Frank Drebin is taken out of retirement to go undercover in a prison. There he must find out what the terrorist Rocco has planned for when he escapes. Frank's wife Jane, meanwhile, wants a baby, adding to Frank's problems. A host of stars are humiliated by Frank at the Oscars while he tries to catch Rocco.

Meh. You see a lot of jokes, but they simply don't work. The timing isn't right and I think the direction is to blame for that, but the jokes aren't always fun either. The first part was directed by Zucker and his Airplane! and Scary Movie 3 I found both very strong with the same kind of humor, in this Naked Gun 33 1/3 they try that but it doesn't get anywhere. Even Nielsen can't always make it. Fortunately, the film only lasts 83 minutes, so there is no real chance of boredom, but that's about it. 2.5*.

I thought it was less than the first two Naked guns. The concept remains, of course, and Leslie Nielsen stays in his role, but I thought there were a few more dead moments in it. Perhaps a little more subtle here and there, but the absurdity was missing now and then. Although that was somewhat rectified during the Oscars.
The scene In the sperm bank was also nice, but was too repetitive. It was also not easy to explain to my children why this was so fun. Bland, but entertaining. That's the best way to describe this series. Maybe I should check out Spyhard again!

This third and last part of the Naked Gun series is also quite entertaining, and in any case flies by. In retrospect, I think all three parts are more or less around the same level; the two sequels are not necessarily inferior to the 1st film. Okay, in this third part all subtlety has been thrown out the window, but it is not the case that the first two films contain subtle humor. Oh, there are some nice puns in there, but in the end this is just slapstick humor, that doesn't have to be denied. But it certainly works for sure. And there's really only one reason for that: the amazing Leslie Nielsen. I maintain that these movies would have been long forgotten if Nielsen hadn't been cast as Debrin. He plays a very fun and hilarious role, and he carries the film completely. It's funny in fact that in the beginning of his career Nielsen was mainly known as a drama actor, because he puts down one of the funniest comedy roles of all time. It's a shame he isn't backed by a stronger or smarter script.
Nice trilogy to watch. Again 3* for this closing.
