Excellent film in which a man survives a plane crash and then thinks nothing can kill him. Well mounted where little by little it becomes clear how the accident took place. But it is the psychological impact on the main character here that is central and interestingly worked out. Excellent acting by the entire cast, this being one of Jeff Bridges' best roles.

I find this film quite difficult to rate. I didn't think it was good or bad right away. It's hard to empathize, I guess, if you've never had a near-death experience. Either there's another reason why the movie didn't come in right away in the end or has some meaning to myself. It makes sense that people who haven't experienced something like this can't really understand it, which is also covered in the film. No one understands Max, not even himself. He thinks he is invulnerable and takes great risks, putting his life on the line. In that respect, the second part of the film actually sends the wrong message. In fact, you should cherish life, not play with your life at all costs. I thought that was a bit weird. Okay, he wants to save other people, but the way is a little too far-reaching.

Let me keep it at a 3.5*, because the film was usually entertaining enough and therefore never boring.

Best movie I've seen this year. Touching. For now 4*, but perhaps after revision 4.5*. I really need to let it sink in for a while.
