Harry goes anyway, and finds out that he is still hated by Professor Snape and his classmate Draco Malfoy. However, there is also good news: the famous writer Gladian Lockhart is the new Dark Forces teacher. After a while, some Hogwarts students are found petrified... but who or what is causing this? Even Harry is not above suspicion.

It's funny, in the YouTube parody of Honest Trailers they go over all Harry Potter films and this Chamber of Secrets is sometimes called 'The one that everybody hates'. Happens more with franchise that lesser 2nd part. Too fast in succession, so no time to take the time. The actors are still not settled in and the whole thing feels a bit messy. Dobby is a nasty character and Tom Riddle and the ghost Mertyl are also just whining. Harry Potter clearly misses the later opponent Voldemort. A somewhat redundant part that you can best skip for the story in my opinion. The movie isn't that bad either, but it's the worst part of the franchise.

A bit more sinister than its predecessor, the scene in the Verdonkermaansteeg for example. The effects look better and more professional this time. Everything feels more spacious and clearer, the camera that swings around the castle in 360 degrees. The sets also look more impressive and although the Chamber of Secrets scene is really nicely done, it also has something amusement park-like at the same time.

The dialogue between Potter and Tom Riddle takes way too long in my opinion, especially because there is (still) not so good acting by a number of young actors. Except Tom Felton, with his sly and dirty looks, I thought he was very witty; a kind of cross between Nellie Oleson from Little House on The Prairie and Joffrey Baratheon from GOT.

Alan Rickman, he remains top notch! For example, in the scene where he hands Harry and Ron down, then gets up from his chair, walks around the table, supporting himself with his hands on the table top, almost like a spider sneaking up on its prey... Great job!

Unfortunately, the music sounded different than in the first part, very American, a kind of mix of Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. Wasn't that upset about it to be honest.

And Dobby the house elf, he stole the show and my heart, that little voice.. sweet!

But no better than part 1 or something, and owls don't belong in cages!

The sequel to Philosopher's Stone is also a great film. You notice that it is filmed less darkly, brighter colors than in the later films. I certainly didn't mind. Especially find the contrast with the other Dumbledore quite large. This one is much friendlier with Harry, seems to have better chemistry. The books are far too long ago for me to know which one ultimately manages to stay closest to the books, but it seems to me to be the first. Although the Philosopher's Stone is slightly better in terms of story, it also has its moments. CGI is better and so is the acting.
