I was also ready for a revision of the series , Columbus passed the baton to Cuaron .

What is striking is the disappearance of the children's film that was clearly part 1 to the more dark atmosphere in this part

(in part 2 that trend had already started to some extent) which the film certainly does well.

I already noticed that in the earlier parts it all feels a bit rushed, this part is a bit shorter than the previous 2.

and with this shorter time comes the negative effect that the story feels even more rushed than before and that was a big negative point for me , it seems as if only the necessary scenes have been used to be able to understand the story , as far as I'm concerned there had been at least another half hour of playing time can be added.

Everything else is more than fine

Harry [Daniel Radcliffe] is 13 years old and entering his third year at Hogwart's School for Wizard when it turns out that the school is in turmoil because Sirius Black [Gary Oldman], a close ally of Voldemort according to the papers, escaped from the prison of Azkaban. Mr Weasley [Mark Williams] warns Harry that Sirius may be after him. Dementors search the school in search of Sirius, Harry meets Professor Lupine [Gordon Thewliss], who will play an important role in the series, and the clairvoyant Professor Trelowney [Emma Thompson] sees 'the grim' and predicts Harry's death. A darker tone than the predecessors and that's right up Cuarón's hand, even if it results in a few moments that are not so suitable for young viewers. Michael Gambon creditably takes over the role of Dumbledore from Richard Harris. His slightly more stern attitude suits this episode, in which the adolescent Harry struggles to control his negative emotions, putting a strain on his friendships with Ron [Rupert Grint] and Hermione [Emma Watson].

Harry has clearly grown a bit here, as has the rest of the cast. In Prisoner of Azkaban, we see a new Dumbledore who doesn't seem too sympathetic in this film and the next opposite Harry. That is in sharp contrast to films 1 and 2. The story is good again and this film introduces new characters as well as creatures such as the Dementors. Professor Lupine is also a good addition as David Thewlis is a great actor. Sirius Black played by Gary Oldman is also top notch. Good film, slightly different from the previous 2, slightly less childish and darker.
