ET was on the agenda again this weekend. A nostalgic film for young and old. In the company of my daughter of 5 enjoyed this family movie, not her in the least. The film is loaded with emotions, ideal for children actually. The first part is mysterious and atmospheric: Aliens that sneak into the forest and make strange noises, falling garbage cans, moving swing, the corn field ... The strongest part is of course the barn. Spielberg really grabs you by the throat here. The effect on children is very large, I noticed that. In terms of atmosphere, this was great: beautiful lighting with the moon, the fog and the sound/silence that underlines the tension even more.

Afterwards, the film becomes lighter and it goes on the funny tour. ET who introduces himself to the children and personifies as Elliott. It produces some nice and funny images. The Halloween party with Yoda was also wonderful. “Home, home!” Afterwards it gets a bit grimmer with adult 'bad guys' and the sense of injustice of children is addressed. Items that you will find in many family films (Free Willy, Beethoven, etc ...). Towards the end, drama takes over when ET and Elliott get sick and finally ends with a happy ending. The flying bikes remain nostalgic. The film poster therefore remains the ultimate atmospheric image that summarizes the entire film in one image. A fun family film that you must see, I think. Also the symphonic orchestra of John Williams, so typical of films from that time (and before) made it pleasant.

There is not much to criticize about the acting, not great, just ok. The quote from young Drew Barrymore (Gertie) “What's happining?” has always stayed with me and is very well spoken and in the right tone. Henry Thomas also did well, full of conviction and above all natural as a child. A classic!

And this is what you would call a classic and certainly one of Steven Spielberg's best films. This is definitely a childhood sentiment film for me and everything is right about this film, good story, cast and effects. It is a family film that you can still enjoy watching after 40 years.

Been waiting a long time to watch this one. Had expected such a sweet children's film, but as you get older you are also more open to things that don't always have to be intense.

ET Also one of Steven Spielberg's famous titles. I already knew where it would go; For a change, there once was an alien who wasn't bloodthirsty or dangerous. No, it's a very lovable creature accidentally left behind on Earth by its home ship. The government has already been signaled and counts on the ultimate evil, while this creature only wants phone home.

The creature soon finds a nest with Elliot. After some mysterious phenomena and the fear of this strange creature, this quickly turns into a friendship. Elliot's brother and sister and later his friends also participate in the care at ET Each in his own way... and in these ways ET learns to know and even adopt the things of human life. From this it soon becomes clear what the creature only wants.

But they are hunted by parental authority and the government. However, this leads to clumsy and sometimes illogical double roles (as a parent you will already be getting something in mind?) But hey, it's a children's film.

This way ET becomes entertaining from start to finish and remains sympathetic. Many elements of which I now know where Stranger Things got the mustard from. Great 80's vibe and a heartwarming ending.

No, I had fun.

4.0*
