"The world will never be the same once you've seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump."

The film tells the story of the humble Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks). His low IQ doesn't stop him from playing a major role in several important events in American history. We see him fighting in Vietnam, meeting Elvis and JFK, and so on. In between these events, he runs into his great love Jenny (Robin Wright) once every few years.

You have to be a sour guy or a sour trooper not to love this movie. I think this is arguably the best movie of the 90s. If you were to ask me about a really perfect movie, I would soon end up on Forrest Gump. It is a strong and inspiring fairy tale about a man with a limited IQ who still leads a complete life with everything that goes with it. Perhaps this low IQ even plays to his advantage because he lives more spontaneously that way. Up to the viewer to judge. Much of this film is also about the unfathomable mystery of life, which can take unexpected paths, just like the feather that serves as intro and outro.

There is not a single useless moment in this either. Everything is so well scripted with quotes that stick, the tempo is magical as well as the heartwarming bond between Jenny and Forrest and the soundtrack is delightful. According to the film, much of America's cultural significance is due to Forrest: Nixon's resignation in the Watergate scandal, the smiley face, Elvis Presley's moves, the rise of Apple. That, of course, makes it both funny and dreamy. Also funny is the fat lipped Bubba with his shrimp obsession. Of course, this is mainly a feel-good film and some realism is certainly missing here. It works better if you view this as a fairy tale. Still, the less fun sides of reality get closer when you factor in the Vietnam War, the fate of Lieutenant Dan and the illness of Jenny . Tears spouting I cry every time that end comes. Not because he finds ultimate happiness, but precisely because his life suddenly, after all those emotions, comes to a moment of rest. And also as a viewer you let go of everything.

A really nice movie with a young Tom Hanks in lead.
