Unnecessary part this, part 3 had made a great end to the series, so why another part....

Unfortunately, this part doesn't come anywhere close to the first 3 parts of the best horror series ever made. It's that you are in the DVD box that I had of the series, otherwise I wouldn't have watched it. The film looks a bit like a bad copy of the first part of the series, but with a girl instead. Damien.

An Omen film without Damien and without a good story. the only good thing about the film is the wonderful music from the original part. Out of respect for the rest of the series, and for the great music, I still want to give this film 2 stars, but if you haven't seen it yet, stop watching at part 3. That would have been a nice end to the series then Omen IV: the Awakening.

2*

Ten years after The Final Conflict, a fourth part of The Omen was produced especially for TV audiences. That fourth part is a superfluous part that does nothing more than simply collect certain elements from the previous parts and repeat them without any creative editing. The only notable difference is probably that this time the antagonist is not of male origin, but is played by a girl.

Produced as a TV movie. This can be seen in the special effects and the blood content. Both have been adapted to the stricter standards of decency that a TV film must meet. That barely means any significant brutal action. That means barely a drop of blood. This means that this unnecessary part is a particularly good part.

There is hardly any tension. An attempt is made to make the action scenes appear more intense using slow motion. At least I assume the purpose of a slowing image is to create tension. It does not work. Even in slow motion, the action remains devoid of tension.

The dark choral music from the first part is also brought out again. Excellent music in itself that can increase the tension if used at the right moments. That doesn't apply in this film. The “Ave Satani” may sound ominous, but it is hardly used in support to increase the tension. Instead, it sounds at very illogical moments.

Omen IV: The Awakening is a good, flawed and unnecessary film.

The fourth part that has more or less fallen into oblivion and certainly not without a valid reason. Director duo Jorge Montesi and Dominique Othenin-Girard mainly make it a popcorn film, with less explanation and more horror. Although it makes the film more entertaining for me personally, it is of course true that in terms of content it is a lot weaker than the previous parts. The acting is also very poor, so none of the characters really stand out. The new child, on the other hand, is doing well and has more to do. All in all, it creates a completely different atmosphere that is often quite messy, but nevertheless quite eye-catching and has some nice and clumsy murder scenes in between. However, there is anything but subtle tension building or a successful atmosphere.
