Damien: Omen II plot

"The first time was only a warning."

Damien is now 13 years old. He lives with his father's brother Richard and his 2nd wife Ann and his nephew Mark. Damien and Mark attend a military academy and are very good. Damien is briefed on his mission by his commander and one of his father's associates. He is the antichrist, the son of the devil. He must see to it that when the reborn Christ is there, he is defeated and the world is shrouded in devilish darkness. On the one hand he finds it frightening but on the other he discovers his power. Anyone who comes near him and finds out what and who he is is killed, but always in such a way that it looks like an accident.

A lot less enthusiastic than most here apparently. Lots of nonsense about devils and exorcists, it's not scary at all. There are a few original unusual causes of death in the film, and the henchmen of the demon-possessed Damien are interesting to follow. The meager story is not exciting. Now the first part, still a classic, didn't score high for me either. I like this one even less. 5/10

Hmmm, that really pissed me off. The Omen is also a long time ago for me and maybe I should rewatch it, but Omen II: Damien was very mediocre. Mainly because there is no convincing evil in the film at all. It's about Damien in his teens, but he doesn't really come across as menacing and although quite a few people die, most of the kills are more laughable than threatening. Basically everything happens indirectly with a bit of telekinesis it seems, but both the manner in which it is done and the relevance to the plot is disappointing almost every time. Well, it's just a bit boring, with little plot, threat or atmosphere. I just hope Exorcist 2 is better.

faint.

Although I didn't really like the classic, nor the remake, I wanted to give this sequel to the series a chance. I couldn't have guessed that these kinds of movies would have sequels. It seems a bit too 'intelligent' for that to me. I turned out to be right about that, because this film has a classic feel to it.

So now mainly a thriller film with some demonic influences and rude murders in between. They have scaled down the atmosphere a bit and stepped up the horror a bit. That makes the film work a bit better for me personally, because I didn't really appreciate the first part. Of course that part is stronger in terms of narrative, but I get through this film a lot easier (Logical).

What makes the film more special for me is that the film also wants to experiment a bit with the camera. For example, there is a sequence where it literally pulls under the ice. Other sequences are also nicely constructed. Other scenes are completely ridiculous, such as the attack of the bird. That's what makes this movie a silly thing to do.

Acting is also very silly, it often surprised me how much nonsense a film can involve in the whole. The rather wimpy characters who constantly come around the corner connected with children who don't know what to do regularly make it a stupid and clumsy whole. It is mainly helped by some unintentional comic murders, but the tension is completely missing and that is a loss.
