Twelve Monkeys plot

"The future is history."

After five billion people were wiped out by a virus in 1996, humanity (or what is left of it) will be living underground by 2035. Convicted James Cole is sent back in time to research the virus so that a fight can be worked on. However, he ends up a few years early, in 1990, where of course nobody believes his story. He ends up in an institution where he finds Dr. Kathryn Railly met. She slowly begins to believe in his story. Cole, however, begins to doubt his own sanity more and more.

In times of Corona, a virus film is part of it. Then immediately take one of the better ones, because usually they are not brilliant. Twelve Monkeys relies on a strong script with a big twist, and on an impressive Bruce Willis in one of his stronger roles. A prisoner, James Cole, is sent into the past from a future where nearly all of humanity was wiped out by a virus to stop the madmen behind the virus's spread.

Terry Gilliam made this film on a fairly modest budget and yet comes to a successful result with his own crazy extravagant style. Except for the psychologist, all the main characters look like a screw is loose and the humor sometimes looks bizarre. However, it is the tragedy and the inevitability of the events that are most impressive. This film has a beautiful ending.

Early on I always thought these Twelve Monkeys were a special but very fascinating film, now so many years later, that strangeness may have faded a bit, but it remains a very strong film with blissful Brad Pitt and of course Bruce was also in his better years back then. There is, quite logically given, a fairly dystopian atmosphere. Man who returns to the wrong year through a time travel gone wrong, in which no one believes his story, this has to, no, this is literally going through hell, which one Bruce delicately puts on the screen. Such films also often show the idiotic actions of human beings, then, now and always.
