Watched it yesterday and in my opinion a very disappointing ending to the Phantasm series.
Coscarelli did not direct this time, but remained involved as a writer and producer.
As a viewer we mainly follow Reggie who is (again) looking for Mike and encounters him in different settings (dementias).
The appearance of Angus Scrimm as 'The Tall Man' unfortunately faded into the background. Of course, the age/health of the actor who died at the beginning of this year will also have had something to do with this. However, it also ensures that the threat that the character posed in previous parts does not come forward much this time.
In addition, it is also not possible to bring out the dangerousness of the Spheres. The orbs are not helped by the poor CGI and despite the fact that they claim many victims, the impact is much less great than in the earlier parts.
Furthermore, Reggie and Mike and a number of their companions switch dimensions very often in the second half of the film, which makes it a bit confusing. People who die in one dimension come back to life in another dimension, etc.
On the one hand, it is nice that they wanted to bring back as many of the original characters as possible, but in my opinion they should have skipped Kathy Lester, injected with botox. Her appearance makes her appearance more ridiculous and a bit sad, instead of terrifying.
The financial problems clearly didn't help the film. The sets are also very variable, because a number of sets appear very plastic and fake, while other sets look solid.
Personally, I don't care much for this (probably) last film from the Phantasm franchise and I therefore have no choice but to give this low rating.

It escapes me how the makers (including Don Coscarelli himself) ended up with a film like this, because Ravager is not much more than an amateurish mess. Director David Hartman brings together the well-known cast one last time for a film that was probably intended to serve as a kind of finale, but lets himself go far too much with substandard computer effects. The positives are that the acting has improved a bit, Angus Scrimm has a solid role, some action scenes have a remarkably large scale and that there is at least an attempt to take a unique direction. The problem is that the ideas never come together into a coherent whole and form a tiring reunion. Perhaps narcotics were part of the writing process, because the event gives a rather strange and dreamy impression.

Unfortunately little screentime for Scrimm. Too old and sick. That does kill the film a little bit. Nothing to blame on Scrimm of course. Coscarelli not in the director's chair this time. Although I'm not sure if he could still make something of it. It was clearly over after the previous part. Reggie has to search for his friends again and find a way to stop the Tall Man and his plan. Yet another repetition. Such a shame. Phantasm was a series that distinguished itself from the majority of horror films with a completely different story, bad guy and world. And then after 18 years come up with such a film. There are certainly still moments that don't completely ruin the film. But those moments are rare. Bannister is simply made for this role. He still does a great job. Even though he is a day older here. Nice surprises too. Although they didn't add much to the story. The Phantasm series does not get a worthy conclusion with Ravager. Let's hope it stays at these five parts.
