L'Ultimo Bacio plot

"Love. Sex. Surrender."

Carlo's sandwich seems baked: he has a steady partner, good friends and a nice job. But when Giulia announces the arrival of their baby, he begins to wonder if he's ready for life in a cottage with a yard. Especially now that his friends are fixing up a van for a long trip through Africa and he has his eye on Francesca, an 18-year-old girl.

Fascinating and endearing film in which a bunch of guys don't want to take on any responsibilities and are happy to convince each other about how bad women are for them. I agree with the previous speaker that it all leans a bit too much towards the soap opera level. In terms of camera work, too ordinary and in terms of story just too much of a simple, somewhat forced accumulation of 'everyone has a problem' just to entertain the viewer. A charming film, because the main character in particular made a natural impression. The transition from rash to responsible behavior is also touched upon in an effective manner at times, without having to immediately deny your identity. Thinking about rebellious times can sometimes be virtuous. 3.5*

The source material of one of the best films I ever saw.

Rarely is a remake so much better than its predecessor, rarely does a remake trump its predecessor on every front, but Goldwyn did it with The Last Kiss.

L'ultimo Bacio is much more unbelievable, the main character is actually a huge selfish loser, his friends are very immature, the mother is a melodramatic slut and his mistress is a beautiful girl but actually a very annoying brainless teenage pussy. Only Giulia and her father actually come out well (read: sympathetic). The Last Kiss is simply much more mature with sympathetic characters who make wrong choices where this actually seems like a soap opera of a bunch of teenagers. Very unsympathetic and that Carlo even keeps lying to the end :') while Braff was just sincere. Francesca is also just a dumb thing, while Kim was actually very nice and who also had more sincere intentions.

His friends also seem much more immature. Especially that obsessive who bothers his ex is almost ridiculousbut also that friend who is a father and really doesn't take any responsibility, childish pricks. I also thought that was better reflected in the remake where Izzy was simply "broken" without being pathetic and Affleck took the responsibilities he had to take. The difference between that weed smoker and Kenny is minimal. Fortunately, Giulia and Giulia's father still manage to create sympathetic characters. I think I prefer that Mezzogiorno to Barrett.

Since a lot is similar to The Last Kiss, it is a walk down Memory Lane, but the film is a bit too immature, unsympathetic and too chaotic for me.

Beautiful, emotional film with a great cast. It's the second time I've seen the film and even though I knew the story, the film got right back into me. This is primarily due to the convincing acting.

Once again it turns out that Giovanna Mezzogiorno is a star who really jumps off the screen. Mezzogiorno is not only a beautiful woman, but also a great actress who has now proven in other films that she knows how to portray mood swings in a credible manner like no other. Her sadness, anger, joy and uncertainty are real. Awesome.

And then of course there is Stefania Sandrelli. Truly a phenomenon, who, at the beginning of her career in the early 1960s, as a teenager with her spectacular beauty and her excellent acting, filled theaters with beautiful films such as Divorzio all'Italiana, Sedotta e Abbandonata and Io La Conoscevo Bene. All gems that you should see at least once. About forty years later, she has lost little of her beauty and she can still act like the best. One of my all time favorite actresses.

The rest of the cast of L'Ultimo Bacio also convincingly portrays passionate roles. I have now seen this film twice, including the American remake from 2006. Although that is not a bad film either (3*), it still lags behind the original in terms of quality. As often happens, the slick Hollywood sauce does the originally temperamental story no favors. In addition, the collection of soap opera actors lacks the necessary talent to compete against their Italian counterparts.

Due to the somewhat unsatisfactory ending, just under 5*.
