Karl May plot

The popular German writer Karl May comes from a poor family and has a difficult childhood. He has to spend a lot of time in jail for all kinds of crimes. Yet this does not prevent him from becoming the most famous novelist of the time of Kaiser Wilhelm II. However, the great reader success cannot save him from a great disappointment: he is destroyed by a smear campaign, organized by people who begrudge him his fame and abuse his "bad" childhood for this.
