“Read the fucking report!”

Strong court thriller. I've read Scott Turow's book, and Presumed Innocent has taken in just the right things, and left out just the right things. In the book the focus is also on Tommy Molto, but in the movie Rusty is really the main character. A good choice, especially with Harrison Ford in the lead role. He is only surpassed by the phenomenal Raul Julia as attorney Sandy Stern.

The story is well put together and the murder case is interesting to follow. The film shows in an intriguing way how corrupt the legal system can be, with favoritism, corruption and extortion that are the order of the day. Towards the end the story becomes a bit unbelievable and it depends on coincidences, but the actors manage to sell it. And the last scene between Ford and Greta Scacchi remains a strong closing.

Solid court thriller with Harrison Ford in a starring role. Film is carried by hell and that was also the reason why I found the film entertaining. Could be my DVD, but images were a bit blurry, seemed a bit dated, but the dialogues and acting made up for it.

The plot was also tailor-made and the twist was well expressed. Found the film a bit confusing and slow to start. The flashbacks were necessary, but did not always work out well. Nevertheless, a successful film. Seen it once, but too long ago to remember much of it. So nice review.

The film sprinkles a bit too much with names where I really had to look up who was who. But the story is very well put together. There are quite a few characters that you will eventually distrust. But the film continues to surprise until the very end. It may lack fireworks and suspense, but the acting performances of the cast are sublime, with Ford sticking out head and shoulders. He remains subdued, but the emotions are very palpable and convincing. Director Pakula almost always guarantees an interesting film with usually a dark twist or initially shadowy conspiracy.

For those who have seen a lot of whodunnits (and there are now quite a few where the accused has to find out the perpetrator himself) it may not be very special anymore, but the ending is still original and is now reminiscent of a more modern classic [spoiler ]: Gone Girl.
