Reunion is a blend of whodunnit and comedy. As the title suggests, it's about a reunion, a school reunion at that. There's a murder. There are suspects. There's a large mansion. And, of course, the weather is so bad that the reunion participants are forced to stay inside. In short, all the familiar ingredients of a whodunnit are present.

The film isn't original. Besides the aforementioned ingredients, the script also follows a familiar pattern. As the film progresses, personal secrets inevitably surface, making everyone suspicious with a motive. While not original, it's enjoyable to watch. The characters aren't annoying, and the lighthearted tone is pleasing. The unraveling is also well-conceived. It's not predictable.

The fact that the film is both a whodunnit and a comedy prevents the story from feeling ominous or suspenseful. I personally prefer a serious whodunnit with some darker layers, but if you're looking for some lighthearted entertainment, the combination with comedic elements isn't a problem. Reunion isn't a remarkable film. Just a fun and lighthearted piece that's easy and enjoyable to watch.

And Then There Were None, but less haunting.

Clue, but less iconic.

It resembles the second one more than the first, with character parodies, hilarious, and everyone having their own motive, although just not enough time is taken to flesh out the potential suspects a bit more. The number of suspects is also just a little too low; a couple more wouldn't have hurt. It turned out I guessed correctly in some respects, but I was also exploring several other leads. However, this type of film really needs to be at least fifteen minutes longer. With the long credits removed, what remains is quite a thin movie.

And yet, I find these kinds of films too entertaining to rate them low. In fact, I’d love to see a whole lot more made. And often, for this kind of cinematography, you have to go back quite a few decades. Okay, you have Sherlock & Hercule Poirot, but I’ve never been a huge fan of the latter. I really wanted to sit down and watch the Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman on Netflix, but it turns out it has already disappeared. Fortunately, there is also the Knives Out whodunit revival. So yes, it was still nice to be able to watch one, even if it wasn't perhaps the most ingenious. But it certainly wasn't cringe-inducingly bad either.
