Good film about a cop in Detroit who comes to the rescue when his daughter gets into trouble in Los Angeles. A simple, but excellent plot for an old-fashioned action comedy like this. There's quite a bit to laugh at and luckily the action doesn't rely on CGI. A nice cast in which Eddie Murphy, after 30 years, easily manages to get back into the shoes of a slightly older Axel Foley.

30 years (!) after the third part of the franchise, Axel Foley is back in a fourth Beverly Hills Cop film. Unfortunately you have to be quite old to have experienced it then, no idea whether the new generation was waiting for this. The old films, especially part 1, were quite worth watching. An action comedy in which both the comedy and action worked well with a simple fitting story. This comeback by Axel Foley is close to the old formula, but you feel that it relies heavily on nostalgia. Even with 80s music, Axel going back to Beverly Hills and driving his car in the expensive streets and an angry police chief. We see many familiar faces, but very outdated. That's how the film feels. A rather unnecessary part that will be useful to nostalgic souls, but which looks back to better times with a group of retirees. Sometimes it works, sometimes not at all. The action isn't too bad at times, but it's never really good. It also seems rather brushed off for a Netflix audience in 2024. Nice to see once, but ultimately one sequel too many.

Apart from a few reasonably put together action scenes, this was quite little. Nice to have seen once, mainly those old heads, but nothing more. Too many irritating things such as the persistent daughter/father nagging and the character of Grant. I've been around for a while and can still remember the premieres of the first Beverly Hills Cop films; that was really fun. It may be the changing times, but I have not been able to discover any real humor in this 2024 version. Nice try Netflix; a fiver from me because I don't want to completely trash this one.

What a movie!!

What is Murphy doing again and where has he been all these years? This is his thing, the action comedy. I remember well that, as a 12-year-old boy, I saw the previous parts and I really hated them. I was almost jumping when I heard that this film was coming out and I actually wanted to watch it at 5 past 12, but unfortunately it wasn't there yet.

For fans, this film is fantastic as always. There is good sharp humor in it, Murphy is on a roll, and it is also nice to see old servants (a pity that their role was limited), in any case it is a feast of recognition. The story is good, the music is nice, the only downside was the closing credits. I'm really blown away by 2 hours. I want to see more like this. Bring on part 5. I also hope that Murphy will star in these types of films again. He grew up with this and that's how I prefer to see him.

Full 5 stars from me. The film with the highest entertainment value of this year for me.
