The third Austin Powers is often seen as clearly the least, most likely because the cake is fairly finished. I had a little less trouble with that myself. Of course, the film - just like the previous one - is a copy of the first film, with a lot of recurring jokes. Sometimes that's a shame, such a Fat Bastard is clearly back because of the success of the second film, but the surprise is gone. I'd rather have a new character, even if Goldmember isn't Mike Myers' best character. There aren't many new characters, the most obvious being Michael Caine as Austin's father. Not a bad choice, funny to see Caine in such a role. The 'new' elements (such as the opening scene) immediately stand out; not even because they're so brilliant, but because they feel somewhat innovative in this movie full of repetition of moves. But as with The Spy Who Shagged Me, I have to say that I did not find this rehearsal - although lazy - to be very annoying. Still, it's probably good that Myers and Roach stopped at this part, they really managed to milk the characters to the last drop.

3 stars.

The least of the 3, but nevertheless I put them all at 3.5*. Mind to zero and you can laugh often enough now. They're just fun movies to watch.
